Every Indian is special,
Every Indian is VIP
In India it is good practice how to show that you are VVIP personality .For this they wanted to carry like Bodyguard and red beacon on vehicles. It was privilege to have red beacons atop cars of all ministers, politicians and bureaucrats, that was seen as the ultimate status symbol. It is good step to ban on its use.
Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narenda Modi took a very bold decision during his cabinet meeting to abolish to use of Red Beacon from all dignitaries‘s vehicle from 1st May 2017. It gives some respite to a commoner who is victim of all kind of VIP culture. The culture of red beacons on VIP vehicles should have gone long ago, said PM Narendra Modi responding to a tweet hailing the red beacon ban
Government allows to beacon on only emergency service like ambulances and vehicles of the fire service, police, and army will be allowed to use blue flashing beacons to cut through traffic.
There are about six categories of beacons — primarily red, blue and yellow — are in use in India
In 2013 Supreme Court passed an order against a petition on misuse of the red beacon it was noted starkly that this was “reflective of the mentality of those who served British Government and treated natives as Slaves.”
Earlier Delhi CM took the lead not use red beacon atop his car in 2015.
Government ensure that they will bring about the necessary amendment to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, in this regard.
"Rule 108 deals with use of red, white and blue lights on vehicles. Rule 108-1 (III) says the Centre and states can specify dignitaries who can use beacons on their (official) vehicles. It is a central rule and is being abolished from the rule book," Jaitley said.
Now times has come to end VIP culture at office
